Braille ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Braille dating app and website at braille.love. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our services. By using Braille, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: Your email address, display name, age, and gender identity when you register.
Profile information: Bio, interests, personality traits, city/location, and quiz answers you choose to provide.
Photos: Your profile photo and, for identity verification, a selfie submitted through the app. Verification photos are used solely for identity verification and are never shown to other users.
Location data: Your city and approximate geographic coordinates to enable proximity-based matching. We do not track your real-time GPS location.
Communications: Messages you send to your matches within the app.
Payment information: Processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card details.
Device information: Basic device and usage data for app performance and security.

3. Camera and Photo Permissions

Braille requests access to your device camera and photo library solely for the following purposes:

Uploading a profile photo
Submitting a verification selfie to confirm your identity

Verification photos are reviewed by our automated system (AWS Rekognition) and, in some cases, by our team. They are never displayed to other users and are stored securely.

To match you with compatible users based on personality, interests, and location
To verify your identity and maintain platform safety
To facilitate in-app messaging between matches
To send transactional emails (match notifications, date reminders)
To send marketing emails (you can unsubscribe at any time)
To moderate content and enforce our community guidelines
To process payments for premium features
To improve our matching algorithm and app experience

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:

With your matches: Limited profile information (display name, bio, interests, city) is shared with users you are matched with. Photos are never shared until you choose to reveal.
Service providers: AWS (photo verification), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and Twilio (SMS verification). These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements.
Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your Profile settings. Upon deletion, your profile and personal data are removed from our systems within 30 days. Some anonymized data may be retained for analytics.

Unsubscribe from marketing emails via the unsubscribe link in any email
Request a copy of your data by contacting us
Hide your profile from discovery at any time without deleting your account

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and secure storage. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Braille is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will delete their account immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Braille after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
